A Story....

My Little angel Ms. Tatiyana,

July 1996 I met a very special little girl who touched my life and will always be true to my heart.  She was two years old and full of energy.  She was diagnosed at birth with brittle bone syndrome.  This was a disease which affected all of the bones in her body and she will never be able to walk.

She never let this fact cause her from being a toddler.  She played with her friends and she could talk a mile a minute.  She used the back of her hand and buttocks to get around, so she would scoot.  She could scoot faster than the toddlers could walk.

Her bones could fracture at any time and it would cause her to be in a full body cast until she healed, it never stopped her from coming to school.  We made accomodations for her with one on one care.  I am proud to say she is now in the 7th grade and she cheers for the local parks and recreation department in my home town.
I saw her in October 2011 and she blew my mind with her sweet spirit and smile.

  2. WOW!!! How amazing! I agree with Vivian, there is definitely ability in disability. I know you must be very proud of yourself for the encouragement, motiviation, love, and attention you had to have given her. I am sure you played a vital role in the fact that she wanted to come to school everyday in spite of the difficulties she faced in doing so. Not many people would have gone the extra mile to make things comfortable for this remarkable little girl. Thanks for all you do.

  3. Children such as this young lady is always an inspiration to those of us who sympathize with big heart high esteem individuals. Her motivation to be as normal as possible is indeed an inspiring story.

  4. This is a very inspring story. We often time complain about minor pains and aches that comes from aging and often times not having a healthy lifestyle, whether it is poor eating habits or not exercising. Reading about your student, should encourage both adults and children to appreciate what God has bless us with.

  6. Thank you for sharing this story with us. It is very encouraging and inspiring when you hear story like this. I have a student at the school where I work. The student is in a wheelchair but he doesn’t let that stop him or slow him down one bit. I love seeing him each day. He is full of life and very independent.
